Rare 1970 MAISON GRIPOIX GRIPT Green Poured Glass Brooch by Josette Gripoix
Up for auction is an extremely rare brooch handmade by Josette Gripoix of Maison Gripoix Paris in 1970. 100% Original and Authentic. Josette was head of Maison Gripoix for several years after her mother Suzanne. From 1969 to 1971 she made her own pieces and labeled her handmade works under the name Gripoix Gript, this is one of those pieces.
You can find this brooch in a different color variation in Florence Müller’s ‘Costume Jewelry for Haute Couture’ book. Page 160. You can see the page in the last photo. Several years ago there was an auction for a blue version of this brooch, the seller stated that it was made for the Chanel house, but I am not sure of that claim. Usually Chanel pieces would be signed, this one is not, and the construction is unique to Josette Gripoix.
The brooch is done in silver metal with green poured glass in the shape of a flower or Maltese cross. On top of the poured glass pieces sit several iridescent blue crystals, signature to Josette Gripoix. The brooch is truly beautiful.

Condition: Excellent Vintage Condition. No flaws. Light tarnishing to the metal on the back of the brooch.
