    Description

This wonderful, historical coffee pot was manufactured by The Gorham Co. sometime between 1853 and 1862. We know that because H. B. Stanwood & Co. operated in Boston, MA between those dates.  It is the has the same model Number, 30, as the Lincoln Tea Service purchased by Mary Todd Lincoln for the White House in 1860.  The resemblance to the decoration of the Lincoln set is quite close. The pot is clearly marked "COIN" along with the Lion, Anchor, and G for Gorham. It is approximately 10" tall, measures approximately 5 1/2" in diameter, and spans 9 1/2".  It weighs 883.8 grams, or 28.42 ozt. The pot is in outstanding condition.  There are no dents or creases.  It is monogrammed. Two things to note: The finial is slightly bent, and the pin holding the handle and insulator in place should be reset.  The finial in the Lincoln set is similarly angled. Neither of these is significant and can be easily repaired.  This is a pretty special piece.  Please see our other listings of Gorham, Tiffany, Unger Bros., and silver from other outstanding makers.  Contact us if you have any questions.
